It's 36 hours to create new, modern and engaging projects for Klaipėda city, its castle and castle’s museum.
4-5th November 2017
Castle hackathon is a 36-hour event with a goal of creating new modern projects that engage visitors of Klaipėda city, castle and castle’s museum. We especially await hacks in education and tourism: virtual and augmented reality, games, multimedia, mobile aps etc. Take part in the hackathon and create a prototype that solves an existing problem in cultural tourism and cultural heritage areas.
Best ideas may be bought and developed into a finished product!
Klaipėda economical development agency and cultural hub “Kultūros fabrikas”, comunity “START factory”
Main prize by the organizer - 1000 Eur
Present your idea and find your teammates during the pitches stage. You will only have 1 minute, so be well prepared!
During the hackathon, the idea and its realization may change, but only teams created during the pitch phase can compete for the main prize.
Each team will have 3 minutes for the final presentation followed by 3 minutes of Q&A with the judges. Projects must be finished (at least as a prototype) or a basic functionality must be demonstrated
You can download a real 3D model of the Klaipeda castle and use it for your own projects. Model provided by UAB "Uostamiesčio projektas", architect Laimonas Bogušis.
No, we invite all hackers: designers, copywriters, business developers, tourism and marketing experts etc.
We will take care of a productive working environment with power sockets and fast wifi, but you should have your own computer and other tools.
No, but you can.
Yes, “Kultūros fabrikas” will provide a big area for sleeping bags (separate for male and female hackers), you only have to bring your own sleeping bag. We can help you arrange a budget hostel in the city center too.
If you already have a team, you can participate as a team. But after the initial pitches you can create a new team or supplement your own with other hackers.
We recommend up to 4 people, bigger groups have a high communication overhead.
We strongly encourage women and their teams to participate (there will be a separate prize for girls)
